Bols Liqueur
Bols was founded back in 1757 in Amsterdam, where they started their original liqueurs: come, cardamom and orange. In 1652 Lucas Bols was born, grandchild of the original founders of Bols. He made a big difference for the family owned business, which is why the company is named after him today. Around 1700 Lucas Bols was very engaged with the East India Trading Company og was actually one of their main auctioneers, which gav him first right to the new herbs and spices they brought to Amsterdam. Because of his big selection of ingredients, which others didn’t haven access to, he made over 300 different liqueur recipes. Lucas Bols used his position in East India Trading Company to distribute the Bols familiy’s liqueurs to most of the world, before he died in 1719.
